Published author, consummate tea drinker, book fiend, and collector of geriatric chihuahuas, Carey Madden is one the foremost experts in the art of buttercream decoration in the country.
She honed her skills in New York working for years at the famous Two Little Red Hens bakery and the So-Ho studio of Ron Ben-Israel. Along the way her work has been featured in Vogue, Mademoiselle and a number of New York City bakery guides. She has designed cakes for cake-loving celebrities such as Madonna, Henry Winkler, Martha Stewart, Christina Hendricks, Katie Holmes and Anthony Bourdain. A few cakes even made it to the small screen on The Chew, Good Day New York and The Real Housewives of New York City.
Carey now calls Philadelphia her home. A city with a food-loving culture and a true obsession for craft seemed the perfect match for Carey’s outlook on cakes and life. So she started Violet as a delicious expression of those ideals.
